Detailed Analysis
You should expect the unexpected when it comes to this treadmill. The running surface of the machine automatically lowers with the help of a hydraulic arm. The machine uses what is known as “soft drop technology” to fold and unfold itself as needed.
Also, be prepared to deal with a treadmill that’s bigger than you might expect. Part of the reason for this is that it boasts such a wide running surface. It’s all the impressive electronics and variety of features that make this treadmill truly stand out from the crowd. Don’t worry, I’ll get to that later!
The JLL reaches a top speed of 16km/hour, which should challenge even the fastest runners over anything except a short distance. There are 20 incline levels to contend with, which you can change electronically during your workout. The 20 levels contribute to a wide variety of intensity and preset programs that you can access through the LED console.
You’ll be surprised how comfortable a run you’ll get from the treadmill. The 16-point cushioned setup, which might be more complicated than it sounds, has garnered a lot of positive attention and feedback. The treadmill also comes with a two-year guarantee on parts and a five-year guarantee for the motor to ensure it lasts you for a long time to come.
Running on the JLL S300
A treadmill is only worth your money if it’s worth running on. The good news on that front is that the JLL has almost everything you could want from a treadmill as far as running is concerned. The only complaint we have about the treadmill is that the motor is a little lacking. It should be more than good enough for most people, but it won’t let you turn up the gear and get a good sprint going. With that said, the previously mentioned 16km/h top speed should be more than enough to get the job done. This is an excellent choice for anyone interested in endurance training.
The engine itself has a generous 4.5BHP and offers plenty of control. Users can adjust the speed from between 0.3KPH to 16KPH. There are 20 levels of incline to choose from for your workout, with the treadmill topping out at a 20% incline. With so much control over the speed and incline, you can expect a workout to suit your needs.
Increase the speed and incline for a tough workout, keep things simple, or switch between the two for some High-Intensity-Interval-Training. The choice is yours with the JLL S300.
There are two key problems most people have with home treadmills compared to what you’ll get in the gym. The first is that home treadmills tend to have a limited running surface. The second is that they tend to make a lot of noise. Luckily, neither of these problems exist with the JLL S300 treadmill.
The running belt is a healthy 123 x 41cm, giving users plenty of room for a missed step or two. The treadmill also has a 16-point cushion deck to absorb shocks from footfalls. The shock absorption system is made with advanced silicone rubber to be as effective as possible. This system removes some of the strain on joints that come with running while also absorbing sound and reducing the noisiness of the machine.
Another standout feature of the JLL S300 treadmill is the generous maximum user weight. One problem with home treadmills is they have limited max user weights. The JLL can be safely used by anyone up to 120KG. It’s rare to run into a treadmill with such a generous weight limit, at least for this price.
The treadmill has plenty of choices when it comes to training programs. With 15 built-in programs that combine different speeds, intervals, and hill climbs, you’ll be spoiled for choice. We’ll get into more detail about the console and options in a minute, but rest assured this is a treadmill that will help you achieve your fitness goals.
JLL S300 Dashboard
The dashboard and monitor is one of the areas where the machine falls a little short. There’s nothing wrong with them, but there’s nothing remarkable about them either.
The dashboard has 11 intuitive buttons you can use to get started quickly. The handrails on the treadmill have separate buttons for adjusting the incline and speed of the treadmill during use. Being able to control these aspects through the bars instead of reaching to the center console is a great convenience. The rails also have pulse sensors. Keep your fingers on the sensors and the treadmill displays your heart rate and uses it for more accurate calorie-loss calculation. Please keep in mind that the treadmill doesn’t connect to third-party monitors and these built-in sensors are the only accurate way to track your heart rate directly through the machine.
The treadmill has a 5” LCD monitor that shows key data including the speed, distance, time, heart rate, and calories burned while running. There’s a tablet holder next to the treadmill complete with a USB port for charging your phone or tablet. The aux-in jack lets you connect audio devices to the machine to use the two built-in loudspeakers. This means you can watch videos or listen to music on your tablet or phone while running.
The buttons on the monitor are super-easy to press to allow you total control over the workout. You’ll have no problem adjusting the speed and incline as you go, or using one of the pre-set programs to have the treadmill handle that for you.
The JLL S300 is easy to control and manage thanks to simple instructions. You should have no problem setting the treadmill up and installing it, but we recommend having a friend help because some of the parts are too heavy for one person. The good news is that the machine requires little to no maintenance once everything is assembled. You’ll only have to lubricate the moving parts every so often.
Cons
- Assembly can be complicated
- Quite large for a “compact treadmill” – even when folded
Final Verdict
The JLL S300 treadmill is a well-put-together product we are more than happy to recommend to anyone interested in home fitness. The machine has everything would need from your home treadmill and is super intuitive to use and control. An all-around excellent product and great value for money.
Running on the treadmill offers a surprisingly spectacular experience considering what you’ll pay for it. There are plenty of options for changing the speed and features you can change to get more control over your workouts. This is a treadmill that is sure to last you for years to come.
